From what people have posted here in the past, in China (perhaps until you get to the more serious levels of competition) no one really cares what you do to your rubber. Legal, illegal, you'll see everything from expanded pips to boosting and speed glue. Forget boosting, note that you can still buy low-VOC speed glues made by Haifu (i.e. Whale, Dolphin, etc.) on AliExpress. Whether *most* people do any of this stuff, or just play with whatever you buy in the store, I've no idea. But I'll bet hobbyist tinkerers abound. Casual players probably just buy pre-made bats at the local bookstore and use them until the topsheets fall off, just like casual players do in the US. Serious club players probably buy actual H3 (and know enough to boost or speed-glue), poorer working class folk and kids on lunch money buy Batwings and similar. People with lots of disposable income? They probably have secret sources of "pro" H3, or some might buy Tenergy and expensive Butterfly blades. Supposedly H3 is still the Chinese number one in terms of sales. Or maybe that was DHS in general.
