Now its my turn to look for a new forehand rubber. Currently using Gewo Flexxon Soft 1.9mm and time for a change. Have decided on Euro tensor rather than Chinese following an experiment over the weekend where I tested both.
What I'm not sure on is thickness and hardness. Thinking along the lines of a soft to medium rubber, possibly in max thickness.
On the weekend one of my competitors made the point that my loops are more spin than speed. I know its true as my contact is often quite thin with my slow spinny loops often cause balls off the end of the table. Is this something I should look to take advantage of by getting a spinny rubber or perhaps the opposite in that I lack speed, get something with less spin and more speed.

I'll be buying from www.tabletennisshop.com.au and more than likely buy from the Donic or Joola range so that means something from the Bluefire, Acuda, Bluestorm, Rhyzm, Maxxxx or Rhyzer series. Victas, TSP and Tibhar are also options but perhaps less likely.

If you wish to see me play, here's my most recent video. Not much would have changed but that is an ALL blade and I'm now using Off- but not a lot of difference.

Played a guy a while back who was using Victas VS >402 Limber on his FH and getting heaps of spin. Style fairly similar to yours.

Sounds an interesting option. Have thought about this stuff before or this and the 401.

I'm a bit sure whether to stick with 2.0mm or go max.

401 would be the opposite to your Flexxon Soft in hardness and weight. Not sure you would want to go to that extreme. 402 Limber will be a little harder than Flexxon, 402 DE considerably harder but still not as hard as 401. Dunno about thickness, I've never felt the need to go over 2.0 but I do chop a bit on my FH.

401& 402 are really heavy rubbers i.e around 50gm for a standard blade size in 2mm.

Note that I'm currently using Flexxon Soft however I wouldn't say its my regular rubber, have had it about a year but used it for about 6 months in that time. Over the last few years or so I've also used: -
Kokutaku 868 2.2mm (briefly as an experiment)
Haifu Whale 2.2mm (prior to moving to Tensors)
Victas V01 Limber 2.0mm (my first Tensor used for a year)
Baracuda 2.0mm (Used for a year)
Regalis Red 1.8-2.0mm (Used about 6 months)

If you want a soft spinny tensor that suits a brush loop action how about Tibhar FXS. Or Xiom Vega Europe df or Vega Asia df.

Have a look at the Table Tennis Daily video reviews on you tube.

What's wrong with, say, Baracuda or Rakza 7? Just get it in max thickness to get a little more speed AND spin.

I like to try different things so Baracuda is probably out, even though I like it. Rakza 7 is an option though.

I have been playing with Joola Rhyzm lately and I am very happy with it. It's an fast offensive rubber with good control. Great at counters, loop kills, blocking and smashes, not so great in slow loops, short game or chopping. I am happier than I was with T05. :)

I used to play Rakza 7 and Rhyzm is lot like, but Rhyzm has better grip (Rakza had slippage with new balls). Rhyzm seems to be very durable also.

Ooakshop had Rhyzym 425 2.0mm on clearance so thought I'd give it a go.

Not yet, only just ordered. Will try Saturday I'd think.

watching the game - I don't think you hit a single straight FH loop (i.e. to the opponent's FH). Everything is curved with sidespin to the BH, which means a lot of the effort is producing sidespin, not as much straight speed. Do you ever hit a FH loop down the line?

Certainly doesn't appear so. I think since then though I am looking to mix it up a bit, especially against better players. On the weekend I remember several shots down the line. Probably not enough though.

Incidentally I hate watching that video above. My flaws are all so obvious and it makes me cringe. Short backswing, no hip rotation, chicken wing backhand, topspin serve return problems etc. The other guy had a much better forehand and backhand but I still won (no idea with my serves). It also gives me encouragement watching that video as I know that I'm able to play at a decent level with all the baggage so if I can actually iron out some of that stuff, perhaps another 100 point rise in ratings awaits me.
