A bit of background: I started the year with T05FX. While it is a great rubber, I found it a bit bouncy in the short game - and while full loops are blistering, when I needed to play a more tactical/ placed loop, I didn't have the same touch as R7S, which I played with for years. So, I went back to R7S. R7S seems to me less bouncy, almost as spinny, and almost as fast - meaning I was able to open earlier as I was keeping the ball shorter on serve returns, and R7S is less receptive to spin. So, overall an improvement for me.

Then in Las Vegas 2 months ago, I picked up a sheet of Joola Maxxx-P (and Joola Rhyzer 43, which I have only had a brief hit with). I am so impressed with the Maxx-P; seems to give so many more gears, particularly low down, than R7S. Looping a half long serve, with R7S I need to engage the sponge a lot more, meaning a more "all or nothing" shot; with Maxxx-P, the topsheet is apparently a lot thinner, and I can use a lot more subtlety and spin picking up the ball. Serves are shorter and spinnier; the opening loop is easier; and the sidespin loop both hooked and faded is more extreme. Really, a great rubber.
