The provincial and national rubbers are not officially released or sold by DHS to the public, so they don't have to provide any information on what they're really like. According to DHS the majority of provincials/nationals out there are fakes (their words not mine), so it's not surprising there is so much debate on what they are like and what they are supposed to look like... Often not even the retailers know that they are fakes, and sell them under the believe that they are genuine. I'm sure there are genuine sellers out there too that do have the real thing... you just have to do your research or trust the seller...

Many believe the provincial (and possible nationals) are just hand-picked from a batch commercial rubbers, with the properties (mainly sponge hardness) that these players desire. This does make sense as it reduces costs, and it also explains why we sometimes get very light and soft commercial rubbers, since they are all from the same production run.

Since our blue sponge rubbers are not from the same production run as the standard orange sponge rubbers, they are obviously different, and may well be closer or the same as some provincial rubbers... who knows? They do seem softer, more consistant from batch to batch and more lively...

Hope that helps...although i know I have not given you conclusive answers...

Yes I run website and the store, but my mrs runs the business.

There is a big thread on the rubber here:

Basically the Globe 999 Nat has a softer topsheet, and is spinnier, a little slower, more forgiving on loops but more sensitive to incoming spin. Red is hardly tacky, black is mild-medium tacky.
