I play with T25 on my backhand. Always play close to the table and need good control on blocks against spinny loops and topspin’s. I also counter hit with flat hits. I currently play with 1.9 sponge. I also use an old Butterfly defensive blade which helps with my long pimples on my forehand. Can anyone suggest a better backhand rubber than the T25.

You need the rubber that makes you feel more confident for you to get closer to the bounce with a loose grip to safely block those heavy incoming topspins.

Do you think playing with a 1.7 sponge instead of 1.9 would help

Changing to 1.7mm might help but the best thing you can do is practice more. Changing equipment rarely ever compensates for a technical or skill deficit. I am quietly confident that if you spent 10 training sessions focusing on multi-ball and B/H blocking you will easily work out the blade angles necessary to block with tenergy 25.

There are many rubbers on the market with lower spin sensitivity then T25, such as Shriver or Mark V for example. In fact Mark V is an excellent blocking rubber in my opinion. But these rubbers also wont generate as much spin on your serves or backhand topspin's. In my opinion regular practice, training, skill development and multi ball sessions are significantly more important to regular club players who are looking to improve their game, rather then changing equipment.

On of my friends is a USATT 2100-2200 dual wing looper, counter hitter and blocker at the table and he has been using T25 for a number of years. T25 is a good rubber, I would recommend you persevere with it.

Before I started LP I used Rasanter R37 on the BH.
I used it to open the rally (i'm better with the BH than FH) and hit the ball flat right off the bounce. Also blocks where very good but you have to practise on loose you grip to slow it down.
I did use it on a very fast carbon blade so there might be a difference. The R42 was to bouncy for my tast. I also used tacky chinese rubbers before the andro.
