By the time he gets to the premier level top division he'll know enough not to go back to that blade.. None of the top players use the OFF++ blades beginners seem to be attracted to..

Sorry but this is wrong. I know several just in my area, including players with multiple trophies from major tournament victories. Obviously it's not every player, but please realise that it's not a hard rule that you need to play with a slow blade (and there are plenty of pros who do play with a fast blade). Some styles and techniques require it and some players just prefer it. Training quality and quantity, mental strength and life dedication matter much more than the speed of the blade. However even the good players who play with fast blades started with a slow blade to learn the skills, which is what would be best for OP.

My mistake. I thought you meant Rakza 7 is $5. You meant the $5 chinese rubbers.

The problem is my forehand flat shots are like lightning, but I struggle with loops

Yes I agree, The rubbers that you're currently using are already relatively fast (at least when they were new). Something like Baracuda will be slower than both of them.

Did you try the Hexer on the FH instead of the Impuls?

It seems a bit better. I will be replacing the Impuls

How many of these "lightning" flat shots miss? That's usually what happens with a too-fast bat. That, and not being able to control pushes and blocks. Loops are also more difficult. You should be able to hit pretty hard with a slower blade, though you have to put more effort into it. And you'd be able to make more of them actually hit the table.

Definitely sounds like too fast a blade. I would suggest you go and buy an all+ 5 ply wood blade and see how you get on. Another reason for the fast flat hits and poor loops is you may be hitting the ball too straight on. A fast bat needs a much more brushing action to use a lot of the energy to create spin as well as speed. I had the same problem on my FH having come from playing tennis which made it very difficult to control bouncy tensor rubbers. Also make sure your grip is as loose as possible for better touch and more spin.
