Wonder if it is better in high humidity now?
Have another trip to China planned soon. Very high humidity in south China.

I go back to outlaw periodically. I have had great experience with it over the years. I like both the classic and (on bh) the golden cake sponge. For a looper it is a great rubber, but if you push, chop or play an all around game there are other options imo.

I played with "topspinschuss", a fast tall young man, who used the new gambler rubbers on both sides on Tuesday night, his fast top spins made me scrambled all night, just too fast for this old man, I have no answers. However, I would like a rematch the next time we meet at the club either before or after you play with your practice partner.

For $14 a sheet, good buy!

Of course, tat. Deal! :)

As for humidity...it has been really hot and humid here lately and I don't think this rubber performs any better or worse than any other I have played with. As for it being just for loopers...you can wonderfully chop with it, too. Just combine it with a slow blade. And yes, it's still great for hitters. :)

The original Outlaw was useless in S. China. I took it off the first day there. It was like playing with a sheet of hard plastic. I'll get a new one and try it out. ;)

I wonder if this is the same Golden Cake that KTL uses.

I really liked the original Outlaw as well, it was quite unique, but the bubbling issue became too common. It's great to hear that it might resolved, I might have another go myself.

I guess that gives us a clue about where it's OEMed... Some of the KTL sheets have very thin topsheets, too. Is Outlaw very lightweight?

It is lightweight to me. Not super light but relatively so.

Have you actually weighed it? (Time to go look it up in the weight database..)

Definitely do! Played a few more times for several hours...still no bubbles, and table tennis is fun again! In fact..the topsheet looks much better than my Donic Bluefire M1 sheets used to look after 3 weeks. Looks aside...the grippiness hasn't diminished one bit. I think that's another improvement over the old Outlaw.

People at the club who like to watch higher level players keep asking me what I'm playing with and when I tell them I play with a 14 dollar rubber (and a $30 blade...Stiga Allround Classic), they look at me incredulously. But then they ask what the rubber is and where they can get it. :)

Haven't weighed the new "Outlaw Classic" but the Outlaw from 6 years ago was super lightweight indeed. It was about 32-34 grams cut to a Butterfly Corbel back then.

Yes there were relatively light, especially for a CHinese rubber.

Some of old sheets I used did not have any bubble issue, but some of them did. My worry is that this is just a good batch, and that they've not really changed anything. :(

I'm pretty convinced a major change has happened. Also, Zeropong gave me basically a "no bubble guarantee". I.e. if it bubbles like it used to when I was playing with it 6 years ago I'll get my money back. That was the only reason I even ordered again. I've been looking at outlaw for years but was scared to order again due to my bad experiences. I've also read some other people's experiences that basically state that they haven't seen any bubbling, cracking or tearing with the new outlaws classic rubbers. I'd say order a few sheets and test them. I'm pretty sure you'll be positively surprised. As I said...the topsheet seems to be even improved...grippier and much more durable (still looks almost like new, especially the red one, after a few weeks).
