I got a 2 of these sheets named Air: 'Golden Era' Formula 3, and would be happy to pass around a new sheet for free, so that we can get a good view of what this rubber is like. I don't feel I'm qualified to do a good review on this rubber, so I'd rather get the opinion of others that have some experience with rubbers like this. Please let me know of you'd like to test and review a free sample... I only ask that (1) you pay for postage and (2) you have some knowledge/experience with these types of rubbers to be able to review this rubber here, so that the review can help others.

I have a red and black sheet (OX) of each. They are labelled as USATT approved.

Rough measurements of the sheet gave me a basesheet thickness of ~0.9mm and pip length of ~0.5mm. The sheet feels a little heavy for an OX sheet, probably due to the rather thick basesheet. Since it only seems to come in OX, and the basesheet looks reinforced/textured, this certainly looks meant for a hardbat styles.

Perhaps someone here has already tried it and can tell us a little about it?

This would be more interesting if it were on the Approved Hardbat Racket Coverings list. I see Valor got a rubber on the list so I'm guessing it's not as difficult or expensive as the ITTF makes it to become listed.

In the mean time I'll continue on with my Butterfly Orthodox.. to the Sacramento Spring Open hardbat RR this Saturday. Woo hoo!

Since the have the USATT approval on the rubber, I assume it will be approved.. perhaps on the list?

Is it possible they got the approval after the last list was released, and hence are not on the list? That could mean that they will have to wait until the next updated list is released to be on it. I am just assuming all of this but like haggis said, if they have the logo, I am sure they are in talks or have concluded talks with the ITTF.

This rubbers are not approved by USATT nor are they authorized to display the USATT logo.

They are only samples at this point, so I can't see an issue with putting the logo on there.

If I was making a new rubber I'd put the ITTF logo on my samples before it was approved as well.... in fact that's probably required to get it approved by the ITTF...

I could test a sheet as well, though I'd be happy to test a sheet after Francis as I could just cut it down.

I still have a red and a black sheet left, so you can both test one if you like, as long as you choose a different colour. 8)

I could test one or both, red being preferred. I can play single sided, just have to decide with side is the single one...

I'm familiar with the various flavors of Yasaka Cobalt, and this doesn't sound too dissimilar. I won't be chopping though, pretty much an all out hitter using a fast blade, Butterfly Mazunov.

Let me look over your stock tonight and see if there is some other stuff I need. I like both the Air Panamera and Scirocco SN rubbers, they make high quality sheets that I'm using now.

I can take the red then, you can take the black and we'll see who it gets too first and who reviews it first...

The one who likes it more or gives the besat review can get the other sheet maybe

Sounds like you've worked it out! 8)

Please PM me your shipping address, so I can work out the shipping cost (which should be only a few dollars).

Well, I tested the Golden Era vs hardbat, I'm not really convinced by this rubber...
Compared to the BTY Orthodox and the Dr Evil :
Spin : Orthodox > Golden Era > Dr Evil
Speed : Orthodox > Golden Era > Dr Evil
Control : Dr Evil > Orthodox > Golden Era, in playing vs hardbat, the Golden Era has some "strange reactions", for example, if you "close" your bat a little too much, the ball plunges in the net, so you have to find the right angle. It was difficult for me to adapt to this rubber, though I'm used to play in hardbat. I only found the Golden Era efficient in hitting flat, the way of the ball is very straight, rather fast and difficult for the opponent. Otherwise, it's less efficient in defence and blocking than the Dr Evil.
I'll test it against sponge, to see if it's different when the opponent's ball has more spin.
