I've been playing hardbat for the last couple of weeks, for a few reasons:
- my circumstances have changed, so I can't play any more league matches, so the season is effectively over
- we have a table at work, and I'm the best player by a long way, and playing with LP against everyone seems unfair, HB is the only other bat I have
- I have the sense that I'll learn something by playing through the summer with hardbat
- it's fun
The interesting thing for me is how differently I play. I expected I'd just defend, but I don't at all. I attack pretty much constantly, fh and bh, and seem to win a lot with bh hits. Same with service return - I'm looking to attack every serve if I can.
I played last night at a club I'd never been to before, after work. I played some strong players, I got some very good results.
I wonder whether after a few months of pure hardbat, I might not return to LP, and go to 2 x SP, or even inv/sp, or inv/inv?
