As the arms race hots up, and manufacturers and players rush to produce and consume new 40+ rubbers, what impact, if any, do you think the new ball will have on hardbat players?

Well, it's already more difficult to produce spin with hardbat, and if the polyball has less spin, I can imagine that you'd really need to whiff at the ball to spin it. I can't really be sure until I try the polyball though.

So far I'm preferring the new ball over the old. My opponents find it harder to generate spin, but I can hit through it all the same. I find reversal the same, and disruption to be perhaps greater.

Our Boston club has two avid hardbat players (Tim and Don) who LOVE playing matches vs inverted players using the Poly Ball. Their hardbat games do not rely on generating a tom of spin, they rely on countering the ball or setting up a hard drive attack. Of course heavy spin very deep troubles them, but such a shot troubles inverted players too.

2000ish hardbat players at that level can really make life rough for you even if you know what to do.
