The U.S. Hardbat ratings have been updated to reflect the following recent events:

Mar 14, 2014 - Cary Cup (Cary, NC)
Apr 27, 2014 - Topspin Hardbat Singles (San Jose, CA)
May 03, 2014 - Hardbat Spring Open (Willamette, OR)
Jun 07, 2014 - Gary Crawford Open (Omaha, NE)
Jun 21, 2014 - Show Me State Games Open (Springfield, MO)
Jul 01, 2014 - US Open (Las Vegas, NV) [OPEN, O40, O60, U2000, U1500]

The complete listings are available at www.hardbat.com.

This update should be in time for the U.S. Nationals ratings cutoff date.

I find those ratings rather confusing. :(

Is James Butler the highest ranked player?
1 -- 3139 TX Butler, James

Is the 3139 his actual hardbat ranking?

What is the significance of the "by TOTAL NUMBER OF MATCHES" ranking?

Yes, Butler has an incredibly high rating. In 15 years, he has only lost one hardbat match, and that was about 10 years ago. His performance at the last US Open was total dominance in a strong field.

The "total number of matches" is just for fun. A way of recognizing the most active hardbat players regardless of their level.

Also, in case it isn't obvious, these are "ratings", not "rankings".

The ratings posted on hardbat.com are the ones that have been used to seed major hardbat events in the U.S. since about 1998. I update them about 3-4 times per year. I used to post a note on about.com whenever I ran an update - but since it's gone, I decided to post here.

Thank you scottgordon.
Wow, Butler belongs in the pantheon of the game!
Hey, we should have a hardbat subforum.
