There have always been players who compete with hardbats in open competition against spinny rubbers and have decent success. I was just wondering how that is working out with the new ball. Better or worse? Interested to know.

Excellent question

I'm a permanent hardbat player
But never had the occasion to play with those new plastic balls for the moment

Is there any advantages for hardbat players with the plastic ball ? (I mean, while playing versus sponge guys).
Easier block maybe ?

I am not a HB player, but have played. I am a Pips player usually long, tinker with SPs.

I have to imagine that the plastic ball is easier to hit through because there is less spin. Also easier to block. The issue is, it's also easier for your opponent who essentially has the same rubbers as you in HB.

I've only come across a couple of hardbat players in league play with new balls. Both were comprehensively beaten, but that may be because they weren't great exemplars of the hardbat game. I'm not one of those who complains about lack of spin on ABS balls when using inverted, so I am quite happy to play against people who don't trouble me with their spin.

I made up a hardbat with a 7 ply wood blade and Friendship 802, just for fun. Only used it once for an hour in practice. It certainly is ok, but not what I would choose to defend my life. No obvious problem to the opposition.

Other setups:
DHS H301 Blade/DHS Hurricane 3 Nat/DHS Hurricane 3 P
DHS H301 Blade/DHS Hurricane 3 P/Tibhar Evolution MX-S
