I would like to see defensive play more prevalent. But not enough attack capability makes for boring play

I seriously doubt ITTF would raise the net height. The people who proposed the higher net noted that loopers these days tend to hit the ball high over the net so the net could safely be raised and not affect the game. I really don't understand the thinking behind this at all - watch ANY game at the international level on YouTube. You'll see any number of net cord strikes, and balls going into the net. This is even with two loopers playing each other. Consider:

1) Not every stroke is a loop. There are also a lot of blocks, flat hits, flicks, etc. and this is even with loopers.
2) Serves are generally quite low, people will serve to just clear the net anyway. Attacking those serves will be a lot more difficult with the higher net.
3) NOT EVERY PLAYER IS A LOOPER.

Yes, if there were more chop defense it would make table tennis more watchable - however, note that even modern sandpaper looks like a loop fest (albeit with much longer rallies). Maybe people are too used to the modern game.

I know someone who has a big stock of 38 mm balls (around 5000 !). He got them by buying the stock of an old sport shop which closed 20 or 30 years ago. He sells them by batches of 60. These are Schildkröt and Dunlop "3 stars".
If someone or a club is interested, contact me by MP, I'll give you his e-mail address.
