I think I can do pretty good in hard bat as long as the balls always comes to my backhand. Unfortunately, my forehand side is still addicted to the invert stroke, but just like everything else, the flatter stroke can be trained and I think I am sort of doing that right now because I have been playing LP forehand when I twiddle.

Hookshot, after your China visit, do come down here with the lovely lady of yours, we can play some hard bat games.

Didn't realize Richard Gonzales played this...I think he used to play double anti. Yes, sandpaper was used -- still has a couple of fans at the local club, but I don't like playing them because they eat up my balls...

Hardbat blades have migrated to 100g power houses. Some are even 120g. Total bat weight is still low with two OX sheets. The old slow blades are going out of favor.

Hmmm. My 11 mm Port Orford Cedar single ply (which weighs in at a hefty 122 g) sounds like it would be perfect for a modern-day hardbat! Nice and soft over the table and an absolute rocket when you stand back and swing. The wheels are turning...

And as far as the Budweiser tournament is concerned, don't forget, you can build and practice with any bat you like but when you get to the tournament they will hand you the bat you will be using to play. Those who have already been playing in the qualification tournaments in the various bars around the country have reported that the cheap hardbat bats that they are being handed are significantly different from the traditional hard bats that they are using to practice with.

I don't think her penhold would work for hardbat very well but if she wants to try, I will build one for her over there. Never seen a pen hardbat player now I think about it. :D

Lilly plays penhold when she plays hardbat doesn't she???
tOD

I loved to watch Japanese hardbat choppers....
