Just noticed this thread. I'm in the process of restoring a U-Matic tape of the broadcast of the Takashima-Seemiller US Open final. The quality is excellent, the commentary by Jack Howard insightful but unabashedly biased (rooting for Danny), and the points are fabulous.

scottgordon,

Thanks so much. This would be very exciting. I have talked to both Danny Seemiller and to Zoran Kosanovic a few years after they had beaten Takashima. They seemed to very much enjoy knowing that they beat my favorite player. It was great to see how happy they felt about their wins.

I would just like to bring everyone up to date on the status of our interview of Norio Takashima.

There has been a long delay, since Takashima wasn't confident in his abilities to respond to our questions in English. Within the past week or so, a friend of mine agreed to translate our questions into Japanese for him, and then to translate his answers back into English. We should have our questions translated into Japanese within the next few weeks.

Steven

I have great news on our interview of Norio Takashima.

We now have the answers to all of our questions for Norio Takashima. (Alex was a very big help here. Thanks so much.) The final step will be to have his answers translated back into English. I have arranged to have a friend do this translation, so the interview should soon be completed. It will be exciting to read Takashima's answers (in English) as he is one of the greatest defensive players in the history of our sport.
