"Between April to May this year, I was found to have Behcet's disease. At that time, I have a lot of doubts and the South Korean Table Tennis Association was also having some hesitations." Joo Sae Hyuk admitted after the London Olympic Games.

"In the Singles competition, I knew I wasn't able to play well. However, our coach and my teammates did not lose confidence on me. They were really supportive and I was able to continue to play an important position in the team event. We, indeed reached the finals and despite losing against the superior strength of the Chinese Team, I am still very satisfied with the result." Joo Sae Hyuk added.

Although Behcet's disease is known to be incurable, it seems that Joo Sae Hyuk is on top of his game. On the medical side, Joo Sae Hyuk relies on glucocorticoids to manage his disease well.
