Seems to me if the ITTF wants to help TT develop and this is seen as an obstacle, how hard would it be for them to hire a translator to be at the big ITTF events so that media can converse with the Chinese players?

They do that now, but those interviews are boring with long stretches of Chinese spoken between answers.

Yes I agree, a live interview is so much better... and some of the emotion and humour often gets lost in the translation as well...

ITTF is full of it and I am not surprised the Chinese officials are more upset. China should have cursed out Mr. Adham in Cantonese while smiling at him.

Real problem is the culture in countries where TT isn't strong. Even in Korea, the average Joe is clueless who their Olympic champs are and how to play. Only difference is, there are just a few more serious players and they are REALLY serious with some seriously good organization.
