Thats the thread!
So the new ball will be used at ITTF events and the old one will still be legal for non-ITTF events.
USATT has made a deal with Nittaku to keep selling the Nittaku balls. ITTF said the old ball will likely remain legal until 2015, thats why USATT said until 2015.
This is all fine and good but I will bet many people will want to try the new ball. I know I would like to. It will be interesting to see what the common Chinese players choose to use. From my time in China, the DHS 3* was the ball of choice. Will they go to the new ball or stay with the old one? I suspect Europe will go to the new ball. If the rest of the world goes to the new ball, the U.S. will be behind again.
If new rubbers come out for the new ball, who would want to stay with the old ball and be behind in technology? Will the top U.S. players that want to play ITTF events use both balls? This is getting pretty crazy again.
