Dear Joo Se Hyuk,

I am 38 years old and father of two kids. I live in Sweden and I have loved the game of table tennis ever since I first watched Jan Ove Waldner play on TV. After 20 years away from playing table tennis, I began training again 4 years ago. I also started to watch more matches on the computer and I was completly blown away when I first watched one of your games. It looked like a so much more fun way to play. I was very inspired and since then I have been trying to play in a similar way, and I still think that it is a more fun way to play :) .

I hope that you are aware of how many people you have inspired. And not just young players, but also old people like me who returns to table tennis (or just never stopped playing). You make table tennis look soooo much more fun than when two fast-attacking players play each other. You have made a huge favor to modern table tennis just by staying true to yourself and to your way of playing!

I wish you and your family the best! And I also want you to remember that you will keep inspiring thousands of young and old table tennis players no matter what happens.

/Joachim

Dear Joo Saehyuk,

As a player who enjoys exploring the less common styles in table tennis, I have looked up to you for as long as I have been involved in the sport. I know that you are a very strong-willed and courageous individual, as you chose to approach table tennis in a way nobody had ever even imagined before, and despite having to fight the uphill battle of training and competing while playing a truly unique style, as well as having to face some of the best players in the history of the game, you have managed to prove again and again that you are a champion. I cannot even imagine what you must feel when going toe to toe with the many fearsome attackers that have flooded the top of the ITTF rankings, but you clearly have the mental strength and resolve to outsmart and outlast all of them when you are playing at your best, as you have done in spectacular fashion a great many times. I hope that in fighting this illness, you will find the same courage you do when playing. I believe that with great perseverance, you can overcome it and continue to inspire players all over the world with your fantastic demonstrations of determination, skill, and strategy.

Best wishes,
Justin

Could somebody at least confirm that Joo will or have received our message?
Or do I miss something which has been stated here in this thread?

Thank you,

Just a few words Mr Joo Saehyuk to wish you a speedy recovery. I am a defensive player, with long pips on the backhand and I have always adored your style. You have inspired many many pips players around the globe and we hope to see you play again soon.

Regards from France,
Gian Pietro

Ow, I see. And do you know by any chance how serious his illness is? Maybe a crude question to ask, but still: can he die from it? Because the info I've read on the web suggests that that is a possibility if it hits the wrong blood-vessel. :(
