Table Tennis Canada Signs $ 200,000 Sponsorship Contract With Butterfly

January 9, 2013 - Butterfly North America coordinated a deal with Butterfly Japan (seat of the mother company) for the Canadian National Table Tennis team. Butterfly and Table Tennis Canada have had a long-standing relationship, but never has Butterfly's investment in Table Tennis Canada come close to the new contract in place for the next four years.

The contract features a mix of in-kind (team uniforms) and cash. "We are very happy with the final contract," states Bowie Martin, President of Butterfly North America, from Butterfly NA headquarters in Wilson, North Carolina. "We have seen the Canadian program grow and see a new and competitive generation of players entering the international arena; we believe that the Canadian team has great potential and Butterfly wants to be part of the team's rise."

"We are also interested in playing a significant role in expanding the TOPS School Program in Canada." The TOPS School program introduces young Canadians to the sport of table tennis, and "has the potential to sharply increase participation in organized table tennis in Canada."

Butterfly acted as the official equipment sponsor of the 2012 Scotiabank Canadian Junior Open and Mr. Martin was present at the event. "I was delighted what I saw in Toronto, a very professional organization and a strong Canadian team."

The total value of the contract is $200,000 and runs from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2016.

My whole set-up costs less than a sheet of Butterfly Dignics

Wow that's quite a sponsorship deal! It's not quite clear what Butterfly gets out of it though.
