Post subject:  OOAK Interview: member Debater - Your Questions?

In celebration of OOAK forum's 10th Anniversary  , I've asked a few people if they were willing to do an interview with us. I'm thrilled that Debater has kindly agreed! Debater is well know here in the forum, especially for his very analytical mind and posts, his amazing Pathfinder Pro videos and analysis, and of course his intriguing posts that really make you think.

So ask your questions here, and after a week or so, I'll collate than and pass them onto Debater, so that he can answer them when he has time.

Note that I've made it clear to the interviewees (Debater), that he can choose to ignore any questions that may be inappropriate or of a personal nature, as we're not all comfortable to share our personal life with the public. ;)

So what questions do you have for Debater?

- What caused you to identify and participate with OOAK forum?

- Name 5-20 forum members from OOAK who are "Characters" and what they brought to OOAK.

- What would you like to see from OOAK going forward?

What would you class as your greatest achievement in Table Tennis, from both the playing/winning perspective and what you have contributed to the sport?

How old do you think you will be when you stop playing the game, and do you see yourself still being on the forum at that point?

What percentage of your life on average would you say TT takes up of it each week?

I have a question which, necessarily, is of interest to UK players rather more than the international community. But I feel very strongly that table tennis in England is a hidden sport, viewed rather as an occasionally played, jokey game.

How would Debater approach the problem of raising the profile and accessibility of the game in England? It appears that PTTA is very active, both on the net and in the local area. I wonder if there are ideas and formats that they use that might be applicable in other places, so that people could very easily find out how to get into the sport, at whatever level.

I say this as someone who found it hard to actually get a game when I came back.

You did some legendary equipment testing videos a few years ago. They were really interesting and well done. Have you ever thought about doing more?

Where do you get all your "starter" topics from?

What question would you ask yourself?

Wow, some deep questions on big topics being asked here! :?: Thanks for the interest. :)

Just to help clarify my understanding of a couple of questions which have been asked so far,

man_iii, what do you mean by

A) For TT as an organization

B) For TT players as a bloc

C) For TT in your geography

Retriever

by "starter topics" do you mean the idea for "new topics"?

Thanks

And whats it like to play the ping pong around about the billabong

etc :-) Not at all deep  just my wishy-washy ways of asking questions to ppl

I know you're very much involved in the running of the clubs and organising events. What do you think it would take to get more people involved so that the workload can be shared?

If you have a full time job in table tennis, and money wasn't a driving factor, what would it be?

What is currently the most rewarding aspect of table tennis for you?

Say that there was a scientific way of testing and rating of rubbers. How could we get the manufacturers aboard to add these ratings to their products?

At what point should a player consider specialised equipment to enhance their game?

What would it take for a table tennis community like this forum, to have more of an influence on the decisions made by our governing bodies?

Ok, I've sent a summary of the Question to Debater, who will hopefully answer when he has time, and then I'll post the Interview. ;)

Any further questions may or may not be answered. ;)
