Fascinating insight. Team team team. Mental strength and coach adapting to suit needs of player and not the other way round. State sponsored support.

I really hoped the ittf would feature a top coach like this man. Class act, modest and smiles. Good interviewer too. Let the coach speak, listened and asked "proper" questions. I hope the ittf do more like this and they promote the behind the scenes activities more. They could do worse than take a leaf out of the nfl's book and produce a series like America's Game.

I saw the video originally through a link from Larry Hodges blog and thoroughly enjoyed it. I sent it to my students as it is the kind of thing that is almost inevitable when a coach is tasked with or accepts the responsibility of helping you succeed regardless of your obstacles. The only time this doesn't happen is when the relationship is damaged beyond repair or neither the coach or the student is invested in the goals. But as you try to get someone to improve, you keep trying different ways of getting through to them if you want to get them to improve.
