I sooo want to switch back to chopping now...the blue sponge on black C8 is tempting me too much...now it only costs 16 dollars though at Li Ning outlet. There was a recent price cut on stuff...cheapest blade is like 20 bucks, cheapest rubber like 14

Unfortunately no provincials

Pie. You should make a deal with yourself. If you wanna play pips I think you should play pips. You can look at chopping with pips as your goal. Here are the 5 stipulations to you reaching the goal of playing with pips again.

1. you can loop consistently with your forehand and backhand in practice. (at least 25 when someone is blocking to you-cross court and down the line)

2. you can block well with inverted cross and down the line.

3. you can flip well using both forehand and backhand

4. you can drive well both forehand and backhand consistently.

5. you learn to return serves with inverted

IF you can do that you most likely will be AT LEAST 1600ish most likely 1900 ish and at that point you can start adding pips to the equation.

I love chopping. I love pips. It is HARD... Matsushita was an attacker first. Not many great choppers just chopped the whole time of their development. Most of the great ones could be two wing loopers if they want to be. Don't buy any more equipment and give yourself a year or 3. Juniors tend to jump in blocks of 300 points at a time. It may take a year but you'll be 1500 in no time. And if you keep with it another year you'll jump more. I can name you a couple kids who I beat at the NA teams in baltimore a few years ago while they were 1200-1600...all of them are at least 2100 now.

Yosua, DHS America (Where my Li-Ning outlet gets their equipment) apparently doesn't have it.

Sam, yes that is what I'm trying to do but still chopping better than looping.

That's fine. You can chop for fun right now but learning to attack is a big advantage for you. later when you become the best chopper/ Looper in America you'll thank me:)

Stick with it. Trust me. In fact I'm going to set up an attack blade and do the same. I will use short pips on the back. I am going to play with this combo in tournament play for the first time at the Michigan closed in April. Lets both make a pact to attack. If you quit using both sides inverted I'm going back to chopping also, but seriously you are young and much more fit than most of the guys on here. Use it to your advantage. Post a new video in january and I'll have a new one also.

If you want a cure to your sickness, consider rehabilitation.

Everytime there is an urge for you to buy new equipment although you know you don't need it, start watching hardbat. Sooner, you'll just be buying sandpaper instead of rubbers  .

Got a sheet of 651 and H3 tonight, along with a Dipper Di-11. Put the H3 onto the Dipper along with the red Sriver FX on my shakehand bat and glued up the 651 onto my shakehand blade.

The 651 makes a funny plinking noise when I hit the ball! It made me laugh the first few hits

The H3 on the Dipper is something I must play with more, because it feels awesome...LOL I have said that way to many times and ended up not backing it up

But the RPB feels more natural for some reason, I don't know why

I'll stick with penhold for now

My shakehand bat looks really weird due to a crappy cutting job I did with it, but it works

Changing equipment often is rather alright.
Then you changed your playing style then your GRIP.
Insane.. For me..

ILP what does your coach think of you constantly changing equipment and now changing your grip? do you follow his advice on these matters? if not then why?

I coach for free so I have strict requirements for my students. I pick the equipment. Your coach is interested in the money. So he does not care as much if you keep changing even to your own disadvantage. My question is, how much consideration do you give to the people paying for your lessons? Do you feel an obligation to make the most use of the lessons? :)
