MNNB, is the first match against Horejsi the SF and the one against Keinath the final? And what's the first name of Horejsi?

Yes that is the correct order. Miroslav Horejsi. He is rated ITTF #227.

The one man in the world who can play Gorilla is competing in the WVC. This is the only match video I've seen so far! :?:

Where is the live stream?

WVC UPDATE

So far very little news out of the "black hole" they call the World Veteran Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. 3500 players, 0 reporters apparently. All the group competition is ended. No matches were scheduled for Wednesday. A whole lot will take place on Thursday. Friday looks like mostly doubles. Everything will wrap up Saturday.

US OPEN ABOUT TO KICK OFF

The day the WVC ends, the US Open begins. Not much of a name international field this year. Thomas Keinath, who is taking a week off from the Challenger Series, is the top seed. The event is back in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

MISCELLANEOUS TT NOTES

I wonder what the idiots running the Swedish Olympic Committee had to say about Matilda Ekholm winning the Morocco Open?

The tabletennisdefenders blog has posted a game and skills analysis of Japan's Shiono Masato.

Here's an interesting article about DHS. Their marketing manager Guan Yasong loves all our sport's equipment instability under the Sharara regime. He says that reform means opportunity, and the company is willing to develop new products to feed the market.

With relatively little news this week, the shot below of Elizabeta Samara's nostrils seems like it's been up an awful long time.

There are a few new here: http://www.ittf.com/competitions/compet ... ry=Special
Problem is that most people at Swedish Table Tennis Association is somehow activated at the competition and therefore cannot write any articles for themselves or the ITTF. But the newspapers here are writing about it almost every day (normally TT don't get any media attention at all, unless JO is doing something like changing club).

One of my club's players (Ray Filz) won his first match in the main draw of the 70-74 group.

Dr Neubauer and Wilfried Lieck have won both their matches so far in the knockout stage of the 65-69. The returnboard guy was eliminated.

Paul Pinkewich won his match in the 60-64.

In the 50-59, after the embarrassment of losing in the group stage, Mikael Appekgren is destroying everyone in the knockout stage. Four 3-0 wins so far today. Aussie chopper Craig Campbell is also still in the running, but Hans Thalin got eliminated.

All the divisions will be weeded down from as many as 64 to 4 players today, with the semi-finals and finals Saturday. Lots of matches still to go.

I should have mentioned that Ray Filz is an LP chop-blocker. :)

Terrific. Good luck to him and hopefully he has video. Not many Americans in this event.

Dr Neubauer was beaten 3-2 in the fourth round of the 65-69. :( Wilfried Lieck is have won all his matches so far 3-0.

In the 60-64 division, Paul Pinkewich has won all matches so far 3-0.

In the 50-59, Craig Campbell, Lu Qiwei (the guy who beat Appelgren), and Appelgren himself are still in the event.

The youngest group is 40-49, however most the top players in that division bypassed this event demonstrating once again that no one cares about "juniors" (except their parents).

Swedish defender Thomas Bennborn has is still going strong in 40-49 (round 8). Philippe Saive, who had to face my friend Lennart in his group, is still there too. He will be facing the winner of Bennborn and another Swedish player Mats Källberg (who has some very good relatives in young Anton Källberg and Stina Källberg).

Filz (USA) lost 0-3 to Bo Thorinsson (SWE).

Bo Thorinsson is Swedens best player in that age (normally, but he lost to a swede). He uses AntiPower and PF4 I think. He is very good, ranked around 1200 in Sweden.

Mats Källberg beat Thomas 12-10 in the fifth, close one. Too bad, I think Thomas would have had a better chance against Saive... Soon we'll know.
