Just watching the ITTF match between Filus and Muramatsu. Muramatsu sure getting schooled. Can't deal with Filus' long pips at all. Filus wins 4-0. Saw Filus beat Koki Niwa yesterday also. He's playing pretty good. Masato Shiono looked a little off against Zhang Jike and still came close (lost 4-2, dropping some close games). He recently changed sponsors and equipment. |

He recently changed sponsors and equipment. Filus seem to like the new ball. He plays more aggressive over the table than most other with LP. He is getting more and more consistent and he doesn't do crazy BH attacks that often. He might be the next highest ranked LP-player (I do not think he is a real defender, more allrounder). Muramatsu wasn't playing very good, he was too afraid to attack (what I saw from the short version) and he did not use is very good BH attack much. Filus also beat Wang Yang in qualification round... |

Here's a fairly new video of Sebastian Sauer, probably the world's best long pips blocker. |

Maybe they're confused. Is he still playing? |

mynamenotbob wrote: mynamenotbob wrote: Looks like the latest attempt to establish a USA table tennis league has failed spectacularly. The following was sent to USATT clubs: Quote: The nationwide league is postponed and is under reconstruction... Greetings! With all the work and money we put into this project we had only 18 teams registered nationwide. The league is postponed and is under reconstruction. If you've sent in payment with your team registration and have not received your refund yet, please contact <SNIP> This nationwide league idea had no chance from the start. I don't know what they were thinking. It's hard enough to get all our best players to even show up on the same night at our club, let alone get them travel for hours each way to compete against other clubs in the same state. Nationwide? Too expensive and time consuming for club players. Then there is the talent issue. Our club's best four-player team would average out at about USATT 1800. We would have zero chance of beating teams from larger clubs in big cities with elite players. The only way leagues can work most places in the USA is to establish local teams within a club. What happened, did it fold, ever play a season ? |

Looks like this great forum has quietly surpassed its one decade anniversary. So kudos to everyone who helped keep this forum vibrant and active over the last ten years. Haggisv is going to put a banner at the top of the page commemorating this major milestone. I suggested... "OOAK Forum Celebrating 10 years of ITTF resistance!" Looking for other ideas to help celebrate. |
