I thought I'd start a new topics on this(viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18521), as I think quite a few of us would have had to give a demo at some stage, usually to non-TT people, and how to inspire them and encourage them to take up TT is vital. Would love to hear what you ended up doing Matt!

Disastrous week on the tt front. My black rubber bubbled so i rushed to get new rubber and decided to try andro hexer, it's horrible so that was a waste of money. Then when i was wiping my red rubber in training a chunk tore off the top so i'm basically just going to get a new bat...lol

Not yet no, I think I'll go back to the Donic Waldner Senso Carbon blade, not sure on the rubbers yet as Donic Coppa JO Platin is no longer in production and apparently the Coppa X1 platin is not similar at all

My latest video :)

Have been finding Crossfit body training really good for my round the table movement and strength so far, but some days doing the session then working at the stadium all day then training at night has been quite tiring, hoping I can find a way to keep my energy levels up! :)

Played my first night of interclub competition tonight in Christchurch, a lot of players here I haven't played before so was a little wary before starting and didn't expect too high. I'm playing the premier grade 1A. Christchurch has over 165 players in this round of the competition which is awesome! it gets spread over two nights. The stadium here is a 17 table venue permanently for table tennis.

I started all of my 3 singles matches slowly, took a while to adapt to being back into matchplay mindset. I managed to win my first one 3-1 which was fine though I probably shouldn't have dropped that set. My second match was a player I hadn't played before, quite awkward, nice wide backside serves which tripped me up a bit being a lefty. I lost a tight 3-1 but he beat my teammates 3-0,they were a bit sour about losing but as I said I tried not to expect too much and my opponent played well and I didn't have the momentum from the start where it was needed! My third opponent was very awkward and I ended up 9-0 down in the first set before I knew it just from a real lack of composure. Lost the first 11-4 but then worked out some fairly straight forward tactical advantages and won the next 3 to win 3-1.

Also won 2/2 doubles. So pleased with 2/3 singles and 2/2 doubles for the night for my first night but plenty to think about :)

Aiming for some huge interviews this year. Having done Samsonov and Saive already last year and around 20 other international players, the likes of Baum, Karlsson, Prause, Monteiro, Pesotska, Pota, Pitchford, Franziska and many others, I am aiming big.

I have started working my network to try and attain interviews with Persson, Waldner, Appelgren, Primorac, Tokic, Smirnov, Gatien, Ovtcharov, Boll and Li Xiaoxia. Big tasks ahead but I hope I can get some of them! :D

Yesterday I went to a high school with 8 table tennis tables and over 40 active players playing during lunchtimes 4 times a week. It was a great experience and so fantastic to see a school taking to table tennis so actively. I have heard this is one of 2 schools in the city area of the region which has 8 tables and a big following. Looking forward to taking that enthusiasm into more schools in the area.

Today I cycled 28km, did my crossfit workout at 7am doing hang squat clean lifting high reps with 30kg bar then gymnastic ring dips and floor press to max weight. Topped it off with an hour of the most gruelling one on one tt training known to any kiwi with Jong Eub Han who doesn't miss a ball on his pengrip backhand. Carnage I'm totalled...all for the love of the game :P

Going to my 2nd school demonstration tomorrow. Been lot's of planning involved in these and coordination with our schools coaching programme. The first demo we got about 50 kids there and managed to give all of them a chance to play a few rallies. We gave away 3 brand new bats and free coaching sessions for all those who registered. Looking forward to the 2nd one tomorrow :)
