2012 ITTF Video World Cup

Here's this year's winner's video by Rajath Kamal, with the message of "where there's a table, table tennis can be played".

This is a gem of a match: Achanta just blows Chen away in the first three games. He's just so powerful all round the table - the heavy backspun chops didnt seem to phase him in the slightest, he just hit through them.

Love watching short pimple players - hate playing them!

Spain's TT prospects looking bright

The state of table tennis in Spain is looking evermore prosperous, and this trend is set to continue with the re-election of their president, Miguel Angel Machado. This victory means that he will be in charge for another four years, having received 47 of the available 58 votes cast between the four candidates.

This decision certainly looks like the correct one for Spain as the current state of affairs in the country is better than ever, most of this success being down to the work and commitment of their president. Machado is the main reason for the country holding its first ever ITTF pro tour event in 2011 and he now has the backing from a huge majority of the Spanish table tennis community to keep up this work. This is fortunate as the president has laid out his plans which are mainly to continue the work he has started and to stick with the ethics that he's begun to build on.

Spanish table tennis is definitely on the up thanks to Machado - let's hope this continues.

In a fairly recent interview, when asked about the Asian domination in international table tennis, Sharara described it as 'a big problem for us [the ITTF]'. Could it be a reason for the change from the 38mm ball to the 40mm, and now to the even larger poly ball which is likely to be even slower if the prototypes are anything to go by? These changes certainly favour the participant countries outside of China, Japan and Korea.

CHALLENGER SERIES GRAND FINALS

Lehel Demeter wins the Challenger Series Grand Finals in Germany with a 3-1 win in the final against Miroslav Horejsi. Chtchetinine finishes third with a convincing win in the 3rd/4th place playoff over Jakub Kleprlik.

Chtchetinine lost to Demeter in the group stages and would have been in the final had it not been for that defeat.

Final placings are as follows:

1st - Lehel Demeter
2nd - Miroslav Horejsi
3rd - Evgueni Chtchetinine
4th - Jakub Kleprlik
5th - Jiri Vrablik
6th - Torben Wosik
7th - Lubomir Pistej
8th - Thomas Keinath (unfortunately as I wanted him to do well)
