Not really an update on my game, but something very different I thought I'd share...

I've never done anything like this, nor do I know what to expect, but I thought I'd give it go! Wish me luck :( :( :(

Lot's of good luck!

Does this mean that if you're successful we can ask you about what's happening with the poly ball and you can approach the ITTF for an update and relay it back to us :P

I'd be interested to know why after putting so much effort in the past no one got back to you, and why the post has been vacant for so long?

You bet ya! :rock: :rock: :rock: I'll certainly be hoping for some help here. :up: I think associations really should be using a forum like this one to discuss ideas and way to promote the sport....it's such a great resource!

Yes good questions. I suspect the position has been vacant simply because no-one volunteered... these thing all take time and effort.
There some good people on the current board that do a lot for the local TT (or have done so in the past), so I'm hoping they'll be open to some of my ideas. If not I'll let them know 8) :lol: :lol: :lol:

Well it's now official... I'm now the Marketing Director of TTSA (Table Tennis South Australia). There were no other nominations for the position, so my nomination (as officially nominated by my club) was automatically accepted.

I'm not sure whether to be happy or worried at the moment... but it will be a interesting experience regardless :( :whew:

You'll have to hook up with the ITTF Marketing Director in Singapore and share notes.

It's certainly a very good idea to talk to other marketing directors... not sure what to discuss though... I think I'm likely to pick up a lot more useful tips from people here than from a marketing director, as these directors may not actually be involved in TT themselves, and I doubt they are as well informed as we are here (collectively) on the forum.

Congratulations haggisv :rock:

Has anyone given you a job description or details of what your key performance indicators will be or the targets/goals for your job so you and others can monitor how you are performing against your objectives?

No not really...I actually asked for this, and was told I can read it in the constitution, where the duties read as follows:

k. MARKETING DIRECTOR

i. Attend all meetings of the Board and General Meetings of TTSA, and have a deliberative vote;
ii. Be responsible for the editing and subsequent distribution of TTSA's official publications;
iii. Be innovative in looking at all means of marketing the sport of table tennis to raise the sport’s public profile.
iv. Liaise with the media and sponsors to promote the sport of table tennis to the best advantage;
v. Prepare a report for publication in TTSA's Annual Report.

I'm going to try and be organised, and keep track of everything I do, and set my own targets. Obviouly the duties will become more clear as I attend the meetings and discussions.

Remember the e-zine we could never get of the ground here mainly due to the uncertainty of legal liability issues? Well I think you just inherited a vehicle that overcomes all that ;)

Oh and congrats on the new "job" :clap:

Thanks Justa!

No it should not interfere... I had no time for training before I took this position, so I don't think this will change. 8) :lol:
