I guess I rebuilt my forehand to be able to play points like that - should call it rebuilding footwork and forehand.

Looking good. Sure looked like you were bound and determined to FH loop at the end of that match. Several good ones prior as well.

Looking great!

I am following your equipment experiments and comments with great interest and I am wondering if you could help me with a bit of a dilemma:

I am currently using Xiom Omega V Europe which is way to fast and demanding for my capabilities and I want to move down to something much slower, predictable and easy to use and I am thinking of trying either softer versions of Hexer and Baracuda (most likely Baracuda Big Slam since I can buy it locally) or trying to get my hands on a sheet of Karis or Regalis Red and since you have extensive experience with all those rubbers I am wondering which one you would recommend to lower rated players and if there is a huge difference in control between them? Thank you very much!

Karis is probably the most expensive and I am a Nexy redistributor. All that said, I highly recommend it. I could give it to a beginner or to a 2000 level player with equal confidence. People who don't train like juniors need something that is predictable to support them on defence and counter offense, especially adults who get confused by tensor non-linearity. The compromise is that you don't get easy spin on offense. Since my strokes generate heavy spin, I am okay with this compromise. My students have appreciated it at the lower levels as well as the spin is decent, just not Tenergy level.

I have never used Regalis Red but it is likely a good rubber.

Your backspin serve looks powerful, you really swing into the ball with authority, something I am experimenting with too and trying to add more range and explosiveness instead of current really slow and careful form.

Looked at couple of your last matches and got the impression that you play a bit more careful on the backhand, more pushes and blocks compared to all out offense I have seen before - have you changed your strategy on your own a bit or do you simply face tougher opponents with better serves and pushes so looping everything is more difficult?

Its a good question. I am not sure I fully have an answer. The biggest thing is probably that I don't drill my backhand opening as much any more and I serve much more forehand than I used to so my recovery is more forehand oriented given my footwork. If I serve a backhand serve, you are very likely to see me open with my backhand as that is what I did for over 4 years of table tennis.

My history as a player was as a pusher and a blocker with occasional attacks. I also don't know how to push with my forehand so that makes life easier in that side in terms of making decisions. My backhand used to play all the shots so I find it easier to dig into serves even if I bmp am not sure what is on the ball.

My opponents also know me and know where to put the ball in many of the videos.

Should be in DC from tomorrow to Friday. May visit a couple of clubs but may also not play at all. Depends on my mood when I get there.

I'm usually at NoVATTC on Thursdays with Japsican but if you're definitely going to be at WDCTT, maybe I'll go there instead. Japsican works nearby so it's easy for him to get there. Will probably take me an hour+ due to rush hour so I won't make the trip unless you're going to be there. Or, you could come out NoVATTC. ;) Let me know one way or the other.

If I know people will be there for sure, I will be there for sure. Let me know the time.
