OMG, big belly laugh....in and out drill instead of in and out burgers! :D  :D  :D

What's he got on his BH? Anti? He twiddles to inverted on BH.

Oya even looks quite a lot like the kid at my club who is of Vietnamese descent. But his movement and shot mannerisms remind me so much of him.

Reb,

At the time of the Oya match, I believe Larry was still using long pips and playing modern defense in attempt to work out more. Didn't work out as well as intended and his coach thought he played much better with inverted so he reverted to it.

Oya has a very wristy style. One of my idols. Shows how good one can get with certain skills and sufficient practice with better players even with objectively inferior technique. To be one of the top players in Japan with that skill set is pretty good.

He has no short game. Every time you served backspin, he pushes long. He almost never attacks your serve. Knowing that, you should always be ready execute the 3rd ball attack.

With his limited mobility, play the angles more. You had a bit of success when you did that.

Speaking of serves, you don't vary the placement of serves enough. Against an opponent with limited mobility, especially one who stands more to his BH side to receive serves, mix in a few long serves to his BH and follow that with very short serves to his wide FH.
