believe it or not mate tsd 40 is too fast for me-even the soft variety.i do like tac c in 1.9 on the f/h though

Half way through the season and time for reflection.Started playing tt may 15 and now playing in div 1 in a local league.im also playing in 2 other leagues but in lower divisions(doing well).
div 1-played-33-42.42%
ive had some good kickings in div one but ive learnt from it and will hopefully improve my average in the next half.
pretty happy gear wise and i have used the same set up for the matches
donic defplay senso-reduced head and narrow handle(new ones are thicker)best anti in 1.8/tsp l catcher short pips-1.8(good for close to the table blocking)my game is either close to the table blocking or long defence chopping-it depends on who i am playing-
may change the f/h rubber to tac c in 1.9 but i usually change and then go back to s/p. :Chop:
PS-ive never had a coaching lesson and have a weird game.

Got a call up to play in a different league-div 1.
1-old guy just hit through the anti-i wasnt sure if i should have stood my ground and blocked close to the table.moved back and was lost.
gave a decent account though.
2-played young guy who didnt like the anti-he got his eye in and it went to 5 ends-i lost.
3-won against a steady eddy in 5 ends.
overall-need to stand my ground more and block with the f/h pips-STOP moving back.
f/h ok at times but not great.

played in another league-div 1
got 1-dude hated that anti and drop shots-drove him nuts-my f/h was good in that game.
other 2 were decent and again i should have blocked better on both wings-a little lazy perhaps?

BUtterfly Flarestorm II-BRIEF TRY ON KUNG fu blade-back hand drives nice-shops seem to flutter a little?
blocks well on f/h-hitting on f/h will take time-need more time with this as i like-seems to block great on the f/h against spinny and hard loops.practice with K who has a decent loop.defplay 2 blade has the red tsp l catcher on the f/h-rubber is old and seems to block better than the black?-black best anti seems faster than my old red version?

Flarestorm II

Increased speed is the biggest difference between Flarestorm and Flarestorm II.
This rubber has what an attacking pips player needs: low trajectory and fast speed
The hardness of the rubber sheet was designed for "Close to the table" and "Controlled Stroke" players.

im looking for a very good s/p for close to the table blocking.ill paste here

Prefer it to Flarestorm, better performance and more control. am using a 1.7 but have a 2.1 to try. I haven't tried the flarestorm 2 yet
^^^comment found re butterfly raystorm

I've now played with JTU for around 7 years. Fast, spinny and light - agree on all points. Spin on serve is definitely a strength - I can force plenty of mistakes with this. I've tried a few others but always gone back to JTU, eg , Joola Snabb, Dr N Pistol, Hallmark Magic Pips, Stiga Royal, Express Ultra. The Express was my second favourite, played like JTU on steroids, but lacked its control and the sponge bottomed out too much. 7 years for an EJ like me is mega and says a lot about the quality of this rubber. I would not go lower than 2mm on sponge otherwise I think it could bottom-out too much.
^^comment re joola tango ultra

@@notes from recent practice-keep elbow close to body when using f/h-more consistant

Played another div 1 match against a team who are near the top.
got 1 out of 3.
1-played allrounder and won-i kept mucking the f/h up so i mainly used the anti and chopped
2-played l/p chopper/hitter-didnt have a problem with the l/p and i just chopped them back-lost
3-aggressive player had a good loop-tried to pin him on his b/h but he was too good.
F/H WAS WELL OFF AND I RELIED ON THE B/H FOR THE GAMES-SENSIBLE IN MY OPINION. :Chop:

placed 1.9 tac c on the f/h of defplay.played much better and had v good control with loops and fishing.s/p are good for blocks but no real feel.
TRIED OUT OLD STIFF VINTAGE BUTTERFLY BLADE-IT PLAYED FINE
OLD VINTAGE TSP BLADE ALSO PLAYED WELL-STIFF WITH NICE FEELING HANDLE

Ever tried Domination? It’s kind of a bit quicker version of Tac C. I’m currently using it on my main blade which is OFF-. It’s the slowest FH rubber I have used for some time, but the very high control (especially for chopping) and good spin makes up for it. You might like it in 1.5 or even 1.8 on a DEF blade.

i have heard of it mate and its supposed to be very good.i think its expensive though.there was a used sheet on e bay a while back.i should have bought it.ive tried all of the other thicknesses in tac c and like 1.9 as it blocks better.i like s/p for blocking aswell but i have more feel with tac c .

Had a few more practice sessions-f/h is better with the tac c and im causing problems with spinny serves.
tried some old mark v on a butterfly vintage blade-feels good but b/h is not as controlled with the anti.
i need to try the mark v on the defplay at some point but i dont want to mess with my match blade too much

I tried Mk 5 on Defplay in the celluloid era and it was a big improvement from Tackiness c for topspin, I think a Mk 5 hps would be better still,to progress it needs something more than a Tackiness c on this blade (it was good speed glued though)

I agree. Its a little weak and you end up putting a weak f/h on the table.you are then on the back foot defending.

I have had to change my best anti to a black sheet in 1.8.This is a little faster than the old red sheet. It seems to chop better. The red mark v is excellent and im feeling a lot more confident on the f/h now-mark vs throw angle is nice and low.
