OOAK Table Tennis Forum

This form has members from different countries ,so this gives us chance to learn what it is like in different countries.I mean my questions about veterans(masters).For the past two or three years the number of veteran players increased and we decided to have a veteran team.Only play with other veterans.So we have Lefkosa Veteran Table tennis Players team.The Table tennis Federation in my country forced us to be a member like normal clubs.I told them that we are not a normal team ,we are veterans and the players in our team are also the players of other member clubs.What I want to learn is the situation of Veteran clubs in your country?Are they members to the Table tennis Federation like the normal clubs?Thanks

"Fadil" In South Australia we have competitions where clubs are affiliated but we also have over 50's clubs which aren't & I'm in both types. Competitions is about points, finals & percentages where in over 50's clubs it is social made up of mainly retired people. We play only doubles & we also have lunches & outings every couple of months. For me it's great doing both.

I don't see how the National Association can force you to join, unless you want to use their facilities/money/officials/ratings system etc. Of course, if you only have one team, you more or less have to join the mainstream. But really, there should be no way to stop you setting up a separate Vets association.
