With rio coming up I was wondering about forum thoughts of the Chinese vs other nations.

The Chinese will dominate...now and in the forseeable future. I don't think this is going to change...unless the ITTF continues to interfere.

Oh, there's hope. The likes of Ovtcharov and Boll win now and then, but expectations are pretty low. Lots of upcoming Chinese youngsters too, so the trend will continue for a while, the only thing is which one will end up with which medal this time around.

We'd like to hear your theories - though the subject's been beaten to death over the years.

A little more interesting on the women's side - lots of strong Japanese players, Singapore has Feng Tianwei (though she's actually ex-Chinese, it's rare for someone who leaves to be ranked this high), and VERY interestingly, there's a couple of very strong Chinese choppers now - one just won the German open, beating the other one in the semis.

I agree with the men's assessment. Difficult to bring down the men unless someone becomes injured. Zhang jike is especially injury prone and xu xim wears a knee strap on occasions. He also has some third ball attack problems in the warm ups. Ma long is a machine. His mechanical style tough to break down. Fan Zheng dong has a great backhand but may crack psych wise. I wouldn't want to be liu Guoliang this year.
