I just used a conventional kind of wood glue. It seems to hold it on very tightly.

Once, after accidently snapping a piece of wood in half, I glued it back together with some elmer's wood glue and a clamp. Afterwards, when I no longer had any use for the wood, I tried to break it again in the same place to test the strength, but the bond was so strong it would only break on either side of it!

So yes, it does hold pretty tight!

No special measuring. I just pretty much measured the width of the handle, sawed the wood down to that width, glued it on, and sanded down any excess.

Silver, of course you mean along your finger, right ?
Hobbes, I think you misunderstood me, what I meant is to measure the balance of a blade before any modifications. I am thinking to use a piece of wood but still wondering what would be the best thickness of the wood, because if it is too wide, the blade will just "sit" there comfortably and we cannot measure the balance more accurately.

No, I don't have any sheets of rubber to fit it. No new ones and all of my old ones are cut to Jpens. I'll give a report once I give it a try sometime, though.
