well, played my 1st tourment since last year today, enteredthe u18's, open mens and the doubles, and tbh, it was poor. i just wish my friggin rubbers who speed up and arive already, its almost 3 weeks since i ordered them, grrrr

anyways. day started with alocated doubles, which for me i was paired up with a LP player, funnyest thing was, he was a dr N user, but the rubber was domination and not a dr n lp lol. 4 teams in our group and we won the 1st 2 easily. tbh the lp and penhold combo is actully effictive, the 3rd we lost so we went to the semis as runner ups of our group, in the semis, we lost 11-4 11-4 11-4, sucks

open singles was horrible, the guy i partnered with i had to face. dam i never knew omination was that spinny, needless to say i got pwned. and again against a powerfull speed glue player. my last game was against this kid, who i managed to win my 1st 5 set game against, after losing the 1st 2

the u 18's were worse, 2 of the kids just came back from county trials, one made it, the other didnt, i got pwned big time, then i lost to another kid, he wasnt too bad. my last game, was against this uber kid, he was very good, but yet somehow i won in 5, yet the games he won were 11-4 to him, so howi won i dont know

overall 13 games, only won 4, i need my new bat lol

To be honest, for a first tournament in a year, that's good going - tournament play is a totally different world to local league play, and different disciplines are the stronger suits (i.e. serve and receipt, and general tightness, are better).

You think your tourney was bad?
I played a tourney last weekend(first in 22 years) where I won 3 games total, out of 20(round robin). Granted I won the 3 games against 1 person who was 14 years old( not that bad a player) but lost every other game to every player I faced. Two of my opponents were over 60 years old. One(Richard) was a three time national Champ in the 1960s. But he Wears 2 knee braces, a back brace, and cant move very well to say the least.
I of course was not de-moralixed by my defeats, but uplifted by the good to great shots I made from time to time. Its been 22 years since I picked up a paddle and have only played again for 4 monthes now. You will learn the most from defeat, and if it makes you work harder, then you will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. Keep your head high, and work harder. In the near future you will remember those who beat you, respect those who beat you, and KICK THE LIVING S#@T out of them next time.

Best wishes. keep your chin up.

If you lost to a lot of players rated a few hundred points above you, it is not so bad. That would be the expected outcome. You have to consider HOW you lost. I had a tourney where I lost almost twice as many games as I won, but increased my rating. I lost major ratings points at my one tourney during my cross country trip this July. I have a tourney tomarrow and then I will be away for a month. I have the same possibility to lose a lot and still gain points. I will call it a successful day if I can defeat two or more players rated 100-200 points better than me and NOT lose to under rated jokers.

cONSIDERING MY RATING NOW IS UNDER (whoops, cap lock issues)

Considering my rating was under 1000 and played in an open touney, I am feeling good about losing. "ODD" as it may sound to those who dont know. I will find out what my new rating is tomorrow. The 14 year old,I beat, was rated 1325, he said, so I really feel pretty good.

What tourney? In what state?
Good luck.....Don't forget rule #1. Do not give your opp any free point.

My tourney will be the Dallas fort Worth Fall Open. I will carpool with three of my Texas LP friends to Dallas`for this tourney. I will bring an extra 1 GB SD card, so I should be able to take 15-16 videos. My cannon G3 defaults to a max of 3 minutes of video, so I will probably be using my smaller SD card Canon. I will post some ugly and good wins/losses and maybe a vid or two of some top players if I can.

I will enter the Under 2200, the Under 1700, and the Open Singles A/B/C/D/E. This could be my last tourney for a LONG time, unless I do a last one in December. I hope to defeat a few better players to bring back up the rating, but the rating will take care of itself if I can managae to avoid giving up a pile of free chances and also if I can manage to hit a high enough percentage of my openers and finish the easy chances I get.
