He's banking on the results of a hair sample, which would show how long he's been using it. If it's for just a short period that he had contact with clenbuterol, it would add some credibility to his meat story. I hope he gets off. Table tennis isn't a sport where one needs steroid-like super strength and drug testing is a waste of money, just like VOC testing devices and friction machines.

If you look at what Clenbuterol was primarily used for (decongestant and bronchodiator apparently) it's not THAT much of a stretch to imagine any athelete using it...

Gao Jun is old, fat, female and doesn't practice that much, yet she easily destroys the best young male studs this country has to offer. There's a video on the ITTF site of her taking down some Aussie female in the current team tournament. I don't think steroids would help her one bit.

That's good news. There was speculation that the DTTB was going to go hard on him (two year suspension) simply to avoid the appearance of corruption. Don't know why they would worry about that when they associate themselves with shady operators like the ITTF.

I feel it is time to check up if those elite pingpang players takes cocaine stuff and cocaine derivatives. WADA did a serious omission, they did never tested pingpang Players for possible recreational drugs.
Chinese players seems to feel no "performence fever" at all and stay "cool as cucumber" even in very tense situations. Surely, they take stimulants of some kind. Cocaine most likely.
