Interesting to read that he can get a yellow AND red card AFTER the match is finished!

Its one thing to celebrate, its another to be unsporting in the way you celebrate. Forgetting to shake the opponents hand, and climbing on the table is poor form. If he didn't mind losing some of the money maybe they should have taken more off him!

Definitely a bit over the top as well as some bad sportsmanship. It's all good getting excited and wanting to celebrate, but you can't just disregard players and officials and carry on like that :^)

My thoughts exactly!

I do wonder though... when is the match actually finished? Obviously it's not yet finished when the last point is played, or you shoudl not be able to get a yellow/red card.

Maybe even though the match finished and the Yellow/Red cards had no meaning any more, they thought to give him one anyway in the hope he might calm down if there seemed to be some serious consequences of his continued celebration :?:

Obviously the red card didn't disqualify him from the match, as he still got his prize money and the title.

3: Regulations for International Competitions
3.5.3 Good Presentation
3.5.3.1 Players, coaches and officials shall uphold the object of good presentation of the sport; in particular players have to do their utmost to win a match and shall not withdraw except for reasons of illness or injury.
3.5.3.2 Any player who deliberately fails to comply with these principles shall be disciplined by total or partial loss of prize money in prize events and/or by suspension from ITTF events.

There is nothing about the rules being limited to match situations. The entire competition (including the award ceremony) is subject to the regulations in this chapter.

Whether a national championship can be counted as an international competition could be debated. However, the national association is at liberty to enforce those rules for national events too (and to me it seems that this is often the case).
