I thought it might be good to have a running list of movies either dedicated to table tennis or, if we must, include movies that feature table tennis. I was inspired to start this thread because of a new Susan Sarandon comedy coming soon called, Ping Pong Summer (2013):

Here's the link on IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2402985/

All it says about the movie at this stage is (from IMDb): A family vacation during the summer of 1985 changes everything for a teenage boy obsessed with ping pong.

(From Movie Insider): Set in the 1980s, a hip-hop and ping pong-obsessed 13-year-old from the Maryland suburbs travels with his family to Ocean City, where he encounters both a new best friend and a new worst enemy.

Now, when you do list a TT related movie it might be good to give your own opinion or a bit of a summary. Or in the case of a movie where TT is included, you could give an indication of when it appears or why it appears.

Forest Gump, although its not a table tennis movie it'll probably be forever the highest rated movie to feature table tennis

Ping Pong Playa (2007)
The 2007 film, Ping Pong Playa delves into the world of top-level ping-pong competition. Directed by Jessica Yu, who won the 1997 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short for Breathing Lessons: The Life and Work of Mark O'Brien. Yu is also notable as director of such television productions as Grey's Anatomy, The West Wing and ER.

The film's star, C-Dub (Jimmy Tsai, who co-wrote the script with Yu) is the underachieving youngest son in a family whose existence revolves around the sport. C-Dub, however, rebels against his heritage, dreaming of being a professional basketball player. When he is forced to compete in a ping-pong tournament to essentially save the family business, C-Dub's competitive spirit and determination come to the forefront and he becomes a hero.

A low-budget production, Ping Pong Playa nevertheless thoroughly entertains and imparts some valuable lessons.

Balls of Fury (2007)
Former ping pong champ, Randy Daytona, is recruited by the FBI to assist with a special, secret mission to capture one of the FBI's most wanted criminals, Feng, by participating in a high stakes Ping Pong Tournament. Randy believes Feng is responsible for his father's death, and the only way to avenge his death and bring him to justice is to defeat Feng with his balls of fury.

Ping Pong (2002)
Ping Pong is a game of skill, a game of fun, and a game of pride. Peco and his friend Smiley have ping pong skills to rival many champions. As their thoughts turn toward becoming professional players they learn more than skill they need to rediscover their love for the game to be successful.

A science fiction movie called Moon featured a short scene where the main character plays a very short chaotic hit of table tennis against his (spoiler alert!) clone. I managed to find that clip:

It's not a bad movie, actually. Worth a viewing if you're into sci-fi.

This isn't technically a movie but if you watch it all in one sitting it's under 4 hours and it's worth it! It's a japanese anime called Ping Pong The Animation and it has 11 20-minute episodes. Its unique artwork and soundtrack lends itself beautifully to the plot and storytelling. This movie inspired me and my buddies to pick up table tennis coincidentally haha

You can watch it on youtube subbed in english by funimation:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... C4TqxkGFUR

sidenote: this animation was based off the same manga (japanese comic novel) that the japanese film Ping Pong (2002) was adapted from
