in recently years, some top players from China went to live in US. CANADA,Korea, Congo etc... and some other countries. They are no longer able to play well in China because it is very competitive there. so some of them gave up playing in China, and went to overseas to live. when they play locally they found out they are still pretty good in that country. and some even win the top position of that country. that means they can represent the new country to play in the Olympic and they may have a pretty good chance. Now this may cause some officials upset because they don't want them to play. or those official don't want to upset China. so they setup a rule that over 21 cannot represent another country to play in major competition.

What is your view on this?

As long as they fulfill the residency requirements for the country that they're living in, they should be allowed to play.

If they can get the nationality, of course they can play. Anyway, I don't see it with good eyes, it's not good for the local level.

that's a good rule. that would mean the country that invested in the development of the player will be more likely to be represented by that player.

it would also mean that countries really have to invest in good youth sports programs to produce olympic results.

I can see addo's point of view on countries poaching other country's athletes with enticements. So there should be some kind of anti-poaching rules.

But for a player who has moved countries and never had a chance in that sport in the other country as opportunities were never there for them, and they show full intentions of this being their permanent home, then it should be ok.

All they need to do is introduce a clearance system, where a person moving countries and wishing to represent the new country they apply for clearance from the old country. There might be some requirements like an application in for citizenship or something. And if the old country refuses clearance then they must guarantee the player a place in their team.

They could also have some sort of time when clearance rules expire. Say after 5 years of citizenship in the new country.

Overall though, why should a country be worried about someone competing against them that they were not going to use. They must have considered them not as good. So therefore they should be happy to compete against a lesser talent than they possess.

They are not consider not good. but just not being selected. playing 11 points. it is quite close and i think it is very possible for them to win the selected players because of the pressure given by their country. these players did a lot of training with the top selected players to help them for the Olympic they know them well in skills too... I will say it is dirty politic again.
