Happy Thanksgiving OOAKers!

Good luck to everyone playing in the Teams this weekend.

And if you are not from the USA and do not celebrate Thanksgiving, feel free to start; pretty much all you have to do is eat turkey and take a moment to be thankful for what you have !

Happy Thanksgiving.
We celebrated Thanksgiving in October in Canada.

We dont celebrate it here (although I'm sure many of us are thankful for what we have). Its a wonder it hasn't taken off like Halloween has, and most other things American

Personally, I love turkey. But many I know, don't. More for me to "gobble" when its served lol

Only one part of Australia officially celebrates Thanksgiving ...

Norfolk Island
In the Australian external territory of Norfolk Island, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the last Wednesday of November, similar to the pre-World War II American observance on the last Thursday of the month. This means the Norfolk Island observance is the day before or six days after the United States' observance. The holiday was brought to the island by visiting American whaling ships.

I do suspect, like Halloween, it's only a matter of time before Australia takes up the tradition to some degree. Although there is this from Wikipedia that might suggest that a certain subculture of Aussies will take it up quicker than the rest:

Local boosters in Virginia, Florida, and Texas promote their own colonists, who (like many people getting off a boat) gave thanks for setting foot again on dry land.

The text in red could suggest that those arriving by boat and get passed our Prime Minister's navy will be looking for a big turkey or two.

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends!

I am surprised by the number of my American Facebook friends who don't realise Australia (and presumably other countries also in this boat) don't celebrate thanksgiving. Besides perhaps Norfolk Island, I think its only an American celebration.
