Here is an old Butterfly catalogue (1985) from Paddle Palace, thought it might be interesting for some:

If you have other catalogues, please share them here.

The catalogs from the 70s would be very interesting for comparison - I'm sure I have one or two lying around somewhere. A lot of stuff got discontinued going into the 80s, including the relatively inexpensive "national style" blades (which you can still see in the Paddle Palace catalog) - French, English, American, Swedish, Czech, Russian, Mongolian... I had a "Swedish" - a ST handle cut off at an angle at the end. The "English" had a small diameter, leather-wrapped ST handle. As I recall all of these were heavily varnished (as many blades were back then).

You're right. I would be nice to have a collection of old catalogues here, so if anyone has any others, please post them here.

That would indeed be AWESOME. I enjoyed reading the '85 catalogue and I was f.e. surprised the Cutlass was labeled as an allround topspin blade, not as a defensive blade. I have an old BTY Tempest blade and it should be from that period, but it wasn't in that catalogue yet (it's probably from '87)...

It would be fantastic to collect old catalogues in a single thread. Maybe you should change the name of the topic and sticky it?

Haggisv,

Thanks for making this old catalog available. For me it is very interesting.

Since returning to table tennis I have wondered about some rackets that I used in the past. One of my old rackets may have been Butterfly Defence with Sriver L and Super Anti, which I briefly used in 1975. (I will shortly submit another post where I ask a question about this blade.) I played very well with this racket. I am certain about the Sriver L, but am not sure if Super Anti or the Defence blade were around in 1975.

In 1984, I briefly used a Butterly long pip. I didn't know how to use long pips, so switched back to the set-up in my signature. From this catalog I can be confident that I used Feint Long.

It was interesting to see the Tackiness rubbers. I don't recall seeing Tackiness rubbers ten years earlier when I was playing competitively.

Thanks again,

Steven

Thanks for putting my old catalog on this web site. It looks like it has some legs here. It died off pretty quick at mytabletennis.net. From now on, I'll post my old stuff here.

@ all,
Here's some downloadable links to old Stiga catalogues I came across from oldstiga.com, unfortunately for myself they are in german, quite interesting nonetheless.

All the best, HnG.

Actually those are in Swedish. I can translate bits of it.

I assume the prices are in us dollars? If so then kit was a lot cheaper over there than in the UK in those days.

I thought I might give this thread a little bump, to see if anyone else has seen any catalogues somewhere that might be interested to share...

Actually - what I SHOULD do is pull out some of my old Table Tennis Topics and Spin magazines and scan the ads. I've got a bunch of those from the early 80s lying around somewhere.
