A REALLY REALLY old Butterfly catalog has been posted here: http://www.mytabletennis.net/forum/foru ... in-my-hand Looks more like a trifold pamphlet, actually. Pre-Sriver, pre-Tempest, even. Comet?? Note the rubbers - came in "C4" or "D13". Another pamphlet, perhaps. This one is 4-fold. Iskandar |

What was the name of the 1980ish ergonomic Butterfly blade, that was sculpted for the hand? |

Can't swear to it, but I think it was called the "Anatomic". Iskandar |

The old butterfly anatomic is quite different from the usual everyday anatomic handles that we see today. HnG

I had the "English style" probably 45 years ago... |

Anatomic of course, Thanks. Dis some searches for ergonomic, sculpted and a few others, but no luck. I wanted to buy it around 1980 - but then it was too expensive for a young lad. Anyone here that know of one for a sensible price, just as a memorabilia racket? |

I had the chance to play with the Kenny, Swedish, American, English Butterfly blades in the mid 70's. I used to borrow from my dorm mates. Tempest and Sriver were the cutting edge rubbers back then. Learned to play on a Tamasu D-13 bought by my mom. This was a notch cheaper than the Butterfly "style" blades. These catalogues brings me back to my childhood when I used to window shop, browsing the catalogs for fun things beyond my reach. Forty years later . . . Butterfly blades are still beyond my reach . . . . ha ha ha. |

Attachment: pecular_1.jpg [ 40.51 KiB | Viewed 4793 times ] Hi, all Butterfly PECULAR rubber sheet was long ago excluded from ITTF LARC as an ersatz product not intended for striking the ball. For now, you can have black and red sheets for attaching on Penhold blade https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nittaku-Penhol ... 2305242102 |

All the best, HnG. These files are not available. Someone can upload them ? |

IN GOOD MEMORY of MY CHILDHOOD, NEVER TO BE REBORN.. I was an enthusiastic geek of 15 y.o. and I got my Sriver-S rubber from a huckster, at abhorrent price of 100 USD. And I smote all foes like a King. |

lasta wrote: Is there a modern equivalent of the Pecular rubber? Depends. Do you actually want to hit with it? If you do, get some OX pips. Long, short, depends on what you want to do with it. If you DON'T want to hit with it, you could buy a "paint sheet" - several manufacturers sell these, they're just colored plastic. But why bother buying one when you can get red or black sticky vinyl decal material from your local auto repair store? Get the stuff with the embossed "carbon fiber" pattern, it's the most available and quite inexpensive. If you cut strips of it you could use it as edge tape, too. Looks really natty. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000642987769.html There's a guy here who plays with a racket I put together for him, he's got this stuff on the back. AND he hits with it. It was perfectly legal to hit with bare wood when he was playing last, which really wasn't that long ago - he's gotten quite good with it, and if you think long pips reverses spin, you ain't seen nothing yet. Problem for him is we've all gotten used to it so it doesn't throw us off as much as it used to. Iskandar |
