Right, but as I mentioned this above this is is with caffiene in the form of a drink. Far different in terms of the potential harmful effects than the pill, which is more readily bioavailable once ingested.

Yeah. Appreciate that bro, it's very reassuring, it defo works for making me more alert V the affects of my meds!!!!

Hi guys! I'm not a big coffee drinker, in fact I'm not too fond of the taste but I drink it sometimes at work when I'm tired and I think it helps a bit. Recently, about the last three weeks, I've been experimenting with caffeine pills before my practice sessions, taking about 400mg (two pills) according to some caffeine to body weight ratio I found in an article as well as the recommended dosage on the box. I just now looked around a little bit and read some shorter articles as well as some experiences from other athletes, the opinions on the effects seems to be a bit divided when it comes to concentration but most articles and experiences points to caffeine giving a physical benefit.

400 mg of caffeine sounds like a LOT. A can of Mountain Dew (IIRC) has 40mg of caffeine in it, somewhat more than Coca Cola. A cup of coffee would have maybe 100 mg. I can stand maybe one Diet Coke a day, any more and I get jitters. I drink the occasional coffee but more often drink tea. When I was in the Netherlands some years back I made the unfortunate discovery that you could get free coffee at Albert Heijn's (and it was really good coffee, too - freshly brewed espresso - and there'd be a line, usually of older men and women, in front of the machine at any given time). After a week of maybe 2-3 cups a day I found I couldn't sleep at night!

Yeah, that's another backside to it, I tend to have a lot harder to fall asleep the nights I've taken the caffeine before my practice session.

I guess it's not a good and healthy thing to start doing regularly, especially if it's not 100% that I actually gain performance from it.

Let's hope we get that chance :P  And while we're at it, let's go into an alternate dimension that pays big $$$ to non-Chinese pro TT players, you know, for encouragement and chicks that appreciate speed and spin

i have a very intense reaction to caffeine...it makes my hearth bump and my hands tremble, so i am avoiding any caffeine cca 2-3 hours before any important tennis or table tennis match...it makes me nervous...

if its energy that you seek, try dextro-energy that you can buy in any DM or a drug store or inform yourself more here... (Muscle Gain & Exercise Performance part)

Table tennis doping? Where is WADA when you want them? :)

An Australian pentathlete (or decathlete, can't remember) got done for having too much caffeine in his system when he loaded up with caffeine (via coffee & coke from memory :) see prior parenthetical remark) prior to the fencing part of the event. The theory being that caffeine enhanced reaction time.

I've sort of done that once, but that time I woke up in the morning, still very much drunk from the night before. Needless to say that didn't go so well, first set I lost 0-11 lol.
