Tacky rubber protectors are perfect, until they inevitably get dusty, dirty and can't be cleaned

non-tacky ones can be cleaned easily, but don't adhere completely to my T25 (no airtight seal) and tend to fall off

non-tacky double protectors (the ones that are one sheet but fold over to cover both sides) don't adhere properly, but don't fall off as easily

how do you protect non-tacky rubbers?

Tacky protectors can be cleaned. Hold them under running water while gently rubbing the gunk off with your fingers. Air dry. Good as new!

I still use the plastic ones meant for tacky rubbers on mine. I figure it just gives a little protection.

Glad Press N Seal will work in a pinch. It's slightly sticky.

Use non-tacky protectors on all rubber. I do not worry about the lack of a seal with non-tacky rubber. My goal is to keep the dust off.

How do you keep it from coming off, though?

These days I just use a large Ziploc bag. For tacky rubber, just smooth the two sides of the bag over the rubber.

I've been using the outer plastic wrappers that come with the rubber packaging. Punch one or two airholes with a paper punch.

When you clean the rubber with water and put it in there, the minute residual water forces the air out through the airholes creating a very tight seal.

Beats paying :cash: for non-tacky or tacky protector sheets. Also you are recycling so its all good.

I don't use protectors any more. Just clean the rubber with breath and forearm, and every-so-often with a little water. I keep it in my case whenever it isn't used. Seems to be working so far. Most of the people I train with are similar, and don't seem to have an issue.
