Hello! I'd like to know which table tennis style makes the game most strategy-focused. I know that the predominant two-winged looping style does require good strategic thinking. However, I feel like this style puts alot more emphasis in technique and power than in strategy. I'd like to know if I'm the only one under this impression or if I'm just plain wrong :D

I would say the penholders. They need to gain control early on. The longer the point plays, the more disadvantage for them.

I play with LP BH & spin FH mainly close to the table & try to play away from my opponents strengths chop/blocking with soft hands & focus on control.  8)

Being somewhat of a history nut I'm just wondering what you mean by "strategic" (as opposed to "tactical"). To me "strategy" would mean something long-term and broad-ranging, and would, example, involve wearing your opponent down over the course of a match (or confusing them, or causing a nervous breakdown.. ), even deliberately losing early games to achieve that end (or conceding early points in a game to take a game). Forcing a game to expedite would be strategic, for instance.

Tactics is short term - a plan you implement over the course of a single point, or a short series of points.
