I always toss the ball vertically outside but very close to the end of the table. and then hit the ball.

So I saw this rule for service "2.6.4 From the start of service until it is struck, the ball shall be above the level of the playing surface and behind the server's end line, and it shall not be hidden from the receiver by the server or his doubles partner and by anything they wear or carry."

The question is, if I do a full sidespin on my serve, i feel like im touching the ball outside of the table but also pushing the ball and still remaining in contact with the ball while the ball goes into the table, is that legal?

I think you're mis-interpreting the rule. The ball only needs to remain above the level of the table, and needs to remain behind the end-line (the end line is the end of the table extended as far out as you like. Apart from this you can hit the ball in any way you like, as long as it touches on your side first, and then the other side.

No, he thinks that the ball contact lasts long enough that the ball's still in contact with the bat as it crosses the baseline (the back edge). I kinda doubt this is the case, but if it is... then is the ball "being struck" behind the baseline or after it crosses the baseline? If he strikes the ball in front of the baseline that's clearly illegal, of course.

Ball contact time is a few thousands of a second. The ball does not roll on the rubber, not on your serve, not on a chop, not on a loop. It is off the bat in a very short time.

Clean your black rubber well. Put a light coating of talcum powder on the ball. Serve hard sidespin and check the mark on your bat. The most you will see is a slight oval shape.

Same can be checked for a hard chop or loop. The ball does NOT roll on the bat. It leaves the bat in a few thousands of a second.

Your serve is legal. :)
