Check out this video:

I understand Cho-ing as a celebration of winning a point and releasing stress but this little girl seems to be doing it to distract her opponent. It's one thing to Cho when you're serving but she also Cho's when it's her opponent's turn. Why isn't the umpire doing anything about it?

If I were the umpire I'd call her for an illegal serve - on match point, that would shut up the obnoxious little turd.

If you watch @ 5:54 it's a happy ending. The tears come instantly when she loses the last ball.

Ah yes, very satisfying. I didn't make it to the end first time I watched, but gathered the whole family around this time.

I don't think she's "cho-ing" or trying to intimidate her opponent, more like she's psyching herself up. Quite noisy, though, you wonder if her coaches told her to do it, when they should actually have nipped the tendency in the bud. You can actually hear the coaches yelling something during the match, too... don't know if that counts as "coaching".

Agree, that was a hard watch, I felt sorry for her very composed opponent, the other players on the opposing table, I would have shouted across to stfu!!!

I do think she was trying to big herself up, but not when u or ur oppo is serving, then it becomes gamesmanship, yep don't understand why officials don't say anything!!!

This kid will be an emotional wreck for years to come, needs to be coached out of her!!!

The whole purpose of "cho"ing is to piss off your opponent.

Never affects me, makes me laugh when non-Asians do it, always ask if they are Chinese,
if somebody is loud with me , I’ll repeat it back word for word when I am winning my points and just to emphasise how ridiculous they sound.

Usually gets a few good laughs!

Generally i see it as gamesmanship, no problem with players celebrating the odd good point, every point is too much though!
