dwruck, is Jim getting better? I know he is a good friend of yours and that you care about him, as well as a lot of people on and off this forum. I personally don’t know him, but I still care. Any more good news on recovery? It would be a relief and blessing to know that he is steadily recovering more.

I've been following the same link that Fish just re-posted for me. So far it seems like it's been an up and down journey, although things appear to be slightly trending better over the last 24 hours or so. One of his sons, Brian, has been posting some of the updates. Brian is also a table tennis player who I know well. If I see any "urgent" updates one way or the other I'll be sure to alert the group. I am really hoping that I am able to post "he's going to be ok!"

I've known Jim for quite a few years now, just one of the many great friendships I've made due to table tennis. We've played doubles together, talked pips, and had a great rivalry when we get to play individual matches. His game has been an inspiration to mine, and what I hope it can still become. He brings a fighting spirit to the table that I know he will bring to his recovery as well. He really is a great guy, always caring and interested in what is going on in your life. Brian, one of his sons, is a strong reflection of his father and his values. I will be very sad if the outcome is not positive for him.

I am very saddened to report that Jim passed away this afternoon. All of us in our table tennis community are saddened by his passing. He was loved by all and will be missed.

It's so great to see how people from around the world meet and come together over the game, and form bonds, that give us deep feelings for people we might not even meet.

OMG Doug! I feel I know Jim better than I know you as we have had quite a lot of interaction until he shut down his FB account recently and is just sharing one with his wife. I think I have Brian on FB too. I must get in touch. I've been away on holidays, so haven't been on the forum until now. This is terrible news!
