The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Museum has officially opened today, 31 March 2018, in Shanghai, China, together with the China Table Tennis Museum.

Great for the Chinese, but maybe not for the rest of us who are never likely to go there.

The Museum used to be in Lausanne, and it's still not clear why the decision was made to move it to China - some internal politicking in the ITTF, no doubt.
I happen to know that Chuck Hoey (the Museum Curator since its inception) disapproved of the idea because of the accessibility issue and because the history of the game is founded in Europe - most of the documentation was and is officially written in English, and most of the memorabilia for the first 50 or so years of the game is European.
What's more Chuck himself has put together a huge amount of that memorabilia from his own collection.
