However when he won the match he immediately placed his paddle on the table and did an anime sprint towards his coach or whoever.

What's a "anime sprint"?

I agree with everything he says. He doesn't have the action quite right, though - Harimoto bends over backwards a lot more.

I'm not a fan of his "celebrations" after winning a point. I had to think about this some, I was a fan of the celebrations after NFL players scored touchdowns, of course those were banned. The league apparently felt they were in the face of the opponent. I disagreed with this stance, I saw them as a exclamation point after a struggle to get the ball in the end zone.

So what is different in Harimoto's case? For me, it is the fact that it occurs so often, when he gets on a roll, it is after every point. I wouldn't mind if it was just after a particularly good point was played, or after a particularly important point was won. But it's not, its after most/many of his points. It's like an NFL player "celebrating" after each down because they got another yard. Nets, edges, whiffs by his opponent, all produced more of these antics. At least that's what I remember from the past matches, I'll have to go back and watch his World Cup matches and see if this trend continued in those matches. Is it a way to blow off steam, reset before the next point, an attempt to intimidate his opponent? Who knows, it just seems a little too staged to be the former, and more likely to be the later in my opinion. In either case it should be unnecessary at his level.

I should probably be taking his young age into account also, so some of the blame falls on his coaches/ mentors, who have allowed this to continue. I'm sure his pressure to succeed is far above what I experience.
